What to Do: Your Package May Be Lost – Amazon
If you recently ordered an Amazon, you may notice your order has an “expected delivery date” and not an exact delivery date. After selecting track package, you may receive a message similar to below.
Your package may be lost
Package are rarely this late and we’re sorry yours still hasn’t arrive.
You can wait another couple of days or sign in to view more options.
You may also see the package was shipped with AMZL_US or Amazon Logistics and contain a tracking number. You can only view the status of the tracking number by clicking details in your order details because the tracking number is internal to Amazon. Amazon Logistics delivery service may have shipped your order via pony express, messenger, or drone.
If you select Contact Us, you may see another screen Where’s My Package? Followed by an Amazon message.
Occasionally packages arrive a day or more after they are expected, but it looks like something may have gone wrong here.
If you have not received your package at least 3 days after the expected delivery date, we suggest you request a refund at the next screen after selecting contact us. You should immediately receive an email from Amazon accepting responsibility and promising a refund within 2-3 days.
We're very sorry that your package has not yet arrived. At this point, we can only presume that the package was lost during shipping. As the item(s) is/are unavailable for replacement, we've requested a refund for the full amount of this shipment, including shipping costs.
This refund should go through within 2 to 3 days and will appear as a credit on your next credit card billing statement. Any portion of your order paid by Amazon gift card will be credited to your gift card balance and will be automatically applied to your next order. You can view gift card balance from Your Account.
You may view your refund by clicking the 'Your Account' link at the top of our web site, then clicking 'Go!' next to 'open and recently shipped orders.' Completed refunds will appear at the bottom of an individual order's summary page.
If the original package should eventually arrive, please let us know by visiting us here:

We apologize for any inconvenience, and we hope to see you again soon.
All else fails, login to your Amazon account and contact Amazon directly here.

This is a scam they normally do when you purchase something that is an an exceptionally big discounted price, This is the second time this happens to me and then when I go look up the item I wanted it is back to the normal price, its like they do not want you to get a good deal.
This usually happens to me when Amazon for whatever reason (s) decides to use a shipping partner as opposed to delivering the order themselves. Keeping with the strangeness of this, they also ship from far away places even when/if you live in metropolitan areas where they are countless Amazon facilities right up the road from you.
The AMZ tracking number items come from Amazon logistics, not USPS or UPS, etc. Amazon in my location at least very very rarely uses UPS or USPS. I am (un)lucky to be near a large Amazon facility and they have now begun using the same model trucks as UPS, but they are painted in Amazon colors and logo.
Anyway, lately I had 2 packages from 2 unique orders go to a neighbors house.
Then a package was "unfortunately" likely lost.
In case you are wondering these 'lost' items actually 'fall off the back of the truck' never to be seen again.
Amazon cuts their losses and moves on. Losing a $500 order is a blip on a broken radar screen to Amazon. They simply don't care. Losing 10,000 $500 orders for them may make prices go up or Amazon will just raise the price for PRIME a bit next year.
We're talking about a company that can get a sponge shaped like a rainbow unicorn to your door in less then 48 hours, so we know they don't have a logistics or tracking problem. If the item never shows "out for delivery" it means it was 'lost' to sticky fingers.
I ordered an item on Feb. 17 through Amazon Prime. I have a message that the package may be lost with the option to "contact us". When I click it, I go to a page..."Ooops, something went wrong on our end."with the option to go to Amazon home page, which of course doesn't help me. I've tried all kinds of ways to contact Amazon about this but have yet to find a way. Meanwhile, the tracking date says shipped 2/22/21--three weeks ago.
Amazon ships packages with USPS who uses third party delivery services. Alot of these packages vanish from these "services" and are never recovered.
amazon said item was shipped and even gave me a tracking number. they kept changing the delivery date. now 5 days before christmas they say it might be lost. its an item that is out of stock everywhere! amazon was not helpful and now the one gift my son wanted is unavailable everywhere. way to ruin a kids christmas. if they would've told me right away that they over sold the item i couldve gotten him a new one. seriously amazon!!! thanks for lying and ruining a kids christmas. i will no longer shop amazon!
Amazon prime day 2020 phone purchase had a delivery date of oct 18 2020. It was late. New guarantee date was oct 20 , 2020. Did not show up. Tracking number on amazon said it was delivered to my local post office. Same tracking number on usps tracking says different. Says it never left amazon nj, warehouse. Seems fishy. Amazon said they will resend my package but, it will take 2 to 3 months to be sent out. They were unwilling to give any kind of compensation. This was a prime day, deal of the day phone. This was pathetic as a big company. They have lost another amazon prime customer.
I had sme trouble lately with lost packages. Amazon sent me a courtesy coupon but no refund. I wrote several long emails demanding a refund. Got my refund the next day. Be persistent! I think they should change their policy to four day deliivery because obviously they are overwhelmed with the two day delivery promise. I have been a prime member for six years. This is the first year i have had real trouble. Remember, demand your refund!
Who takes the hit?
I had several packages not delivered before the holidays, and I got the same message. "Your package may be lost. Click here for a refund."
These were all fulfilled by Amazon.
My question is: who is actually reimbursing me, Amazon or the original seller? In other words, who takes the hit for the loss?
Thanks
Bought nine (9) items from Amazon on 4th July and on 8th i recieved six items and till today 13th i still don't have the other three packages worth $118.98. Amazon said item may be lost, i requested for a refund and Amazon sent an email that they cannot refund me.
Unfortunately this is my first buy ever on Amazon and having a bad experience already.
I've always thought Amazon have perfected their shipping and tracking methods, but i was wrong.
Worst part saying they can't refund me my money. Hope i wount have to send messages till eternity just to get a refund.
