Mac X Microsoft Word - Remove Annoying Format Letters

If you’ve been typing in Mac Word, you may start seeing special characters show up next to your text. If you’re like me, you have no idea on how these started appearing and they are annoying! An example of Mac Word formatting is the backwards P or ¶

Mac Word calls these non-printing characters and there meant to help guide you with your document formatting. I find them flat out annoying and an inconvenience.

To disable Mac Word formatting you may have accidently turned on do the following:

Select the pilcrow icon [ ¶ ] for Show/Hide on the Formatting ribbon

or...

⌘ + 8 (or on a PC: ctrl + *)

Instantly the formatting braces will disappear.
