Fix: Automatic Configuration of the Current Version of Microsoft Office Access Has Failed

You receive the following error repairing, installing, or using fix-it for Microsoft Access.

 

Automatics configuration of the current version of Microsoft Office Access has failed. Your database might not function correctly. This can occur if you do not have the necessary permissions to install Microsoft Office Access on this computer.





 

1. Enable Windows Installer service so Access can finish configuring itself if it was recently patched.

 

This error is also caused when you install Lync 2013 on a machine with Office 2010. Perform the following steps below.

 

Run Office Repair from Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs.

or…

Run the following command in Windows command line as Administrator

reg add HKCR\Wow6432Node\CLSID\{3BE786A0-0366-4F5C-9434-25CF162E475E}\InprocServer32 /VE /D "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\OFFICE14\ACEOLEDB.DLL" /T REG_SZ /F

The command worked for me. Just make sure the path to the "ACEOLEDB.DLL" file in your command matches what's on your machine if different from above.

So... How did you fix it? Same happens to me. I didn't fix the problem reinstalling. The command didn't work either. Don't know what to do :-(

Windows 10 with Office 365 and not Lync installed is giving me this error. The suggested repair, which both quick and online were performed with no fix. I then used your command prompt for Admin command. That too gave the same result, not fixed.

I did not have Lync installed but got the error. The repair from Programs and Features (Windows 10) did not work but the command you posted did. Thank you!
