Fix: Microsoft Access has detected that this database is in an inconsistent state and will attempt to recover the database.

You receive an error message using a Microsoft Access database. If you click “OK” Access attempts to recover the database. If Access is unable to recover the database, try the following steps below.

Microsoft Access has detected that this database is in an inconsistent state, and will attempt to recover the database. During this process, a backup copy of the database will be made and all recovered objects will be placed in a new database. Access will then open the new database. The names of the objects that were not successfully recovered will be logged in the “Recovery Errors” table.

1. Open the database in Microsoft Access and go to Database Tools tab -> Compact and Repair Database.

2. If compact and repair does not work, manually create a new database and import the tables from the bad database into the new Database (External Data tab -> Import Access Database).

See this Microsoft article on more info for repairing Access databases.
