Fix: Windows Taskbar Icons Stretched (Wide Icon Spacing)

Fix: Windows Taskbar Icons Stretched (Wide Icon Spacing)

If your Windows taskbar suddenly shows opened application icons stretched, perform the following steps to “reset” the Windows taskbar.

  1. Ensure the taskbar is not locked (right-click taskbar, uncheck lock taskbar) and drag the taskbar to a different side of your screen – then drag it back to it’s original position.

This will reseat the taskbar and re-align your taskbar icons so they aren’t stretched anymore.

If the above did not work, perform a Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM) repair.

  1. Open an administrative CMD prompt.

  1. Type the following commands.

dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
sfc /scannnow
