Fix: There Was a Problem Sending the Command to the Program - Excel

In Microsoft Excel, you may receive the following error while trying to close out a spreadsheet or exit Excel.

There was a problem sending the command to the program.

The error is most likely related to another processes using the excel spreadsheet or preventing Excel from quitting. Verify other processes and try to perform your action again. The error is also common if the Excel spreadsheet your are in is from a shared document library, such as SharePoint.
