Fix: The Parameter is Incorrect Windows Share Error
If you are trying to map a Windows share/SMB/UNC path by a DNS host or alias record, you may receive the following error:
…is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.
The parameter is incorrect
It is very likely that the DNS record name you are trying to access the share by \\dnsexample\share was either changed or deleted. Reverse the changes done to the DNS record then follow the steps on the server you are trying to map a drive path on.
Flush Windows DNS
Open Windows command prompt. Type the following command to flush the Windows DNS cache. ipconifg /flushdns
Reboot The Machine You’re On
If this still fails and you receive the error “The parameter is incorrect” error, reboot the host you are on that you are trying to map the drive on. This should completely rebuild anything else that might be cached in the Windows OS.
