Mobile Phone Number Deactivated for Facebook Text Messages

Mobile Phone Number Deactivated for Facebook Text Messages

Did anyone else receive this email suddenly from Facebook? It claims the mobile number on your Facebook account was removed due to Facebook no longer recognizing the number as valid. However, your mobile number is still valid and you did not disconnect your service.

Hi,

The phone number (XXX) XXX-XXXX has been deactivated for Facebook text messages due to the following reason: the mobile service provider this number was registered with no longer recognizes this number as valid. If you changed your mobile number or switched mobile service providers, please visit Facebook to add your number again.

Thanks,

The Facebook Team

If you go to Facebook Settings and choose Mobile, you may need to Activate Text messaging again.

I've had this problem for quite a while. FB couldn't verify, and I wouldn't get texts from some various other sites. Finally called T-Mobile yet again tonight, and expressed my frustration. The tech compared my settings to my wife's phone settings (that doesn't have the missing texts issue), and she found that my phone showed that I had some supposedly default block list setting turned on that is meant to protect against scammers. She said that the customer has to call to have that removed (but we never called to have my wife's setting changed...)
So, the tech removed the block list setting, and I was able to verify my number on Facebook and other sites I was unable to verify before.
Hope this helps someone!

I spent several hours with my cell phone carrier support and finally emailed the Presidents office and got a call within an hour. There is NO WAY Facebook can verify the phone number with the carrier. It is a violation of privacy laws and they assured me this is NOT happening. Like I said to them, "then why is this happening, cause someone is communicating with someone at carrier" -- The answer is still NO!!
