Did you receive a notice (email) from Facebook about removing content because they received a notice from a third party it infringed on their copyright? The email from Facebook is structured similarly to the example below.

You can choose to appeal the restrictions place on your page by clicking Appeal button in the message. Else, you will have to wait the expired time. Note, clicking Appeal in this message will not appeal for the content to be restored. If you want to appeal to restore your content, you will need to following the instructions provided in the Facebook email.

In either case, you should work to understand with the party or parties claiming rights to the content you posted.

 

  1. Confirm the party is the actual copyright holder of the content you posted. Email them asking for proof. The email address of the complaint will be in the email you receive from Facebook. The party should be able to provide proof in a reasonable time frame.
 

If you freely (without the original content owner’s consent) posted a photo or video from the Internet on your Facebook page, the odds are against you in receiving a copyright complaint. Eventually, the owner of that video (or business) may find out you shared it on your page and file a complaint.
