Facebook: Can’t Download. Could not retrieve data from URL.

Did you receive an error in Facebook after trying to post to a page, profile, send a message, or leave a comment? In most cases, if you attempt to post a URL link it fails to fetch images and meta data from the website you receive a Could not retrieve data from URL error.

 

The website you are posting from may be flagged on Facebook as malicious and Facebook will not allow you to post a link from the site. In addition, if you posted the link in a Facebook message previously, you may notice it was removed with the following message.
