Understand Web Fundamentals JavaScript, PHP, Perl, CSS, HTML
The core of web designing and management requires several applications in order to function. This guide will familiarize you with JavaScript, PHP, Perl, CSS, and HTML and understand their function in Websites.

CSS (Cascading Style Sheet)

These are pages (style sheets) that define design aspects of a web page. These aspects include appearance attributes include font, color, columns, background color, and more. CSS pages end with .css extensions in their file format. CSS makes it easier to manage the design and layout of pages on your website rather updating each page individually. Using an external CSS style sheet avoids duplication of the same content in pages and allows you to make changes site wide to one document. The difference between HTML is content and CSS is design. For website templates, CSS is heavily used to control the design and layout of every web page. If you decide to change your website template (most webmasters like too in order to uniquely customize it) you will definitely work with the templates CSS files.

HTML (Hypertext Markup Language)

HTML handles the formatting of a web page. It uses to define elements of formatting. Each web page contains a head, title, and body element. The head contains a web page title along with meta data keywords. See our guide with common website terminology and definitions. A title is the page heading that appears at the top of browser bars. The body contains most everything else visible to a visitor including graphics and text. Today, it is not necessary to write HTML code to create a webpage. HTML editors save the effort of having to write HTML code. Here is a list of popular free and paid HTML editors. A simple website might use basic HTML in pages. This is useful to bring up a quick splash page(s) or a maintenance page using basic HTML.

Perl, PHP, JavaScript

A web programming language plays several important roles with websites today. If you want a website page(s) to do different things, you use web scripts with Perl, PHP, or Java. JavaScript programs/scripts run in browsers and the optimization depends on a browsers performance. PHP and Perl (server-side languages) are served on the host computer operating system and sent to a web browser. PHP is most popular because of the enhancements it gives HTML. It is pre-configured with scripts that come with Apache installed on a web server. These pre-defined configuration scripts are controlled by a PHP.ini file.In summary, it is not necessary to be adept in these languages; however basic understanding will better guide you designing your website.
